Email data recovery services have expanded exponentially
since the advent of general data recovery services. One
of the main reasons is the migration from customary
communication to almost entirely email communication
for many companies and individuals. Although there are
many email applications from which ESS Data Recovery can
recover, the most popular by far is Microsoft Outlook.
Outlook stores email data in PST files, and OST files
if working in conjunction with a Microsoft Exchange server.
One would think that recovering just one or two files would
be easier, but because this file can easily become fragmented,
data recovery can quickly become complex if proper file
structures are not in place.
Another problem is the storage limit of PST files. The
storage limit for a single user's .PST file (the file
used as Outlook's message database) used to be 2 GB.
If a .PST file grows to over 2 GB, it can become damaged
and some or all mail items may become inaccessible.
Office XP Service Pack 1 users and higher will simply get
errors and not be able to add or receive new mail items.
The most common error states that one should permanently
delete items to reduce the amount of data in the file.
Users of earlier versions of Outlook will get no warning,
resulting in immediate file damage when the file size
reaches 2GB.
ESS Data Recovery, Inc. has developed technology to
recover email in cases where a PST file is damaged,
partly missing, or deleted. In every case, we highly
recommend sending in your drive even if you think the
data is gone forever - oftentimes it's not, and hundreds
of hours of reconstruction time can be saved by a simple
recovery procedure.
