Subject: Feedback on case 117447
I would like to thank your for your service in recovering data from the
hard drive we sent, particularly given the odd set of circumstances surrounding
this transaction. Here is how the story unfolds.
A little while back one of our executive's laptop hard drive failed, taking
with it some very important company data. We packaged up the drive and sent
if off to a data recovery company that we have been using for the past year
or so to have the data recovered. After about a week I received a call from
a somewhat confused sounding individual letting me that they had received
my hard drive in the mail and were wondering why they had received it. For
reasons still unknown, the courier service that we had used to transport
the hard drive to our normal data recovery experts had rerouted our hard
drive to a company called ESS Data Recovery, of which I had no previous
knowledge. I experienced a moment of sheer panic at being informed that
my executive’s hard drive, sensitive data and all, was now in the
hands of some unknown company instead of being at the desired data recovery
company I had sent it to. Thoughts of the potential loss of this hard drive,
or worse, data piracy, exploded into my head and I quietly began trying
to remember if my resume was up-to-date and where to begin my new career.
My fears were somewhat allayed as the voice on the other end of the phone
informed me that ESS was in fact a data recovery outfit as well and offered
to give me a bid on the recovery of my hard drive. So overjoyed at the prospect
that I may be able to keep my current employment, that I emphatically agreed
to have a bid. To my further surprise I was told later that the cost estimate
for recovery would be around $700 less than was I was expecting to pay at
my current data recovery specialist. The deal was topped off by a timely
response and turnaround, and all data was returned on an external hard drive
instead of multiple DVD disks like was the norm at the last place.
Bottom line is that ESS was able to take a mystery hard drive sent to them
by mistake and save me nearly $700, all while delivering superior service,
an external hard drive, and my job!
Thanks all!!!
